California Quail (Callipepla californica) and Natural Bridge State Beach in Santa Cruz, CA

Today I have photos of the California Quail (Callipepla californica) and photos from Natural Bridge State Beach in Santa Cruz, CA. The photo of the California Quails was taken near the state beach. Also near the state beach (same park) is the Monarch Resting Area which is accessible via a boardwalk. I don't have any photos of it here as I was not in season to see the butterflies, but every year (I forgot when), a huge amount of Monarch butterflies will fly there and rest. It was an amazing scene and I went there once when I was younger. It was beautiful.

Full Resolution Photos and Prints: If you want to see full resolution photos or buy prints of any of the photos you see, they are up on my portfolio for viewing. To see my best 2012 Santa Cruz photos, use this link. Message from the Author: Sorry about the delay in blog post guys! I took a vacation to Death Valley National Park and took almost 2000 (estimate) photos there! Obviously that is a very large amount of photos and it will take a while to process. Then when I came home, I had to rush to finish a term paper, so that's why I haven't been doing much (including my fan pages). Anyways you guys, there is huge news from Death Valley National Park. I know this is a very controversial subject, but I may have had a UFO sighting in the park. Here is the story, it was getting dark out but I had 1 more view point to go to (Artist's Drive, Artist's Palette), so I did, as I can just compensate for the lack of light with longer exposures. I spotted a great view of the mountains and pointed my camera at it. My calculations said the photo would take 3 minutes to expose correctly so I started. I noticed the stars were coming out so I decided to use the time to enjoy the view. As I looked overhead there was some "really bright stars" and I noticed they were moving a lot faster than the other stars. At first I though they were airplanes or something, but then I thought, no way it can be that bright, plus it is not flashing, not moving fast enough, and seemed too high up. Next thing I know one of them changes direction. I thought I was sleepy and my eyes was playing tricks on me, so I asked my mom to take a look. She saw the same thing, and that same star changed directions again and a few other ones around it also changed directions (there were about 5-6 "stars"). I got so freaked out that after the 3 minutes, I just drove the heck out of there. Reviewing the images on my camera, they don't seem to be in my camera's field of view sadly. It would have been great if they were. :/ That is the most amazing thing that happened during my trip. Anyways, let's move on to the photos I want to show you guys today.

The first 6 photos are all of the California Quail (Callipepla californica).

 Cute bird isn't it?

After they saw me approaching with a camera, they started walking away.

One of them decided to stop and look at me. YAY! :P

These are all the photos for today! I hope you have enjoyed it. You are probably thinking I will start my Death Valley photos next time, but that is not the case. Again, almost 2000 photos will take me quite a while to process! Next time, I will most likely be posting up the photos I took at Wilder Ranch State Park which is also located in Santa Cruz, not so far from Natural Bridge State Beach. Black Friday Deals Week Begins!

Black Friday Deals Week has begun on Amazon guys and I have the link to the deals page for you guys! Happy shopping! Amazon have the best deals ever! Last year I got a camera bag and memory card for 50% off! What a deal! :) So please enjoy your chance to shop for cheap products! The Amazon deals will last for 1 week starting from now. How exciting?

Here are some tips I have for you on getting the deals.
  • Go to the deals page. You can do so with this link
  • First look at the active offers and see if there is anything you want. If you want it, and the deal isn't all used up, add it to your cart! Even if you kind of want to product, do it anyways, you can remove it from your cart later.
  • Once you are done with the active offers, look at the upcoming offers and see if there is anything you want. Do all the research on the product before the deal becomes active!
  • Once you pick out what you want on the upcoming deals, I suggest you refresh your browser 5 minutes before the deal starts as the timer on the page could have lagged a bit. Then 1 minute before it begins, refresh again, and then once the add to cart button pops out, click it!
The offers will be gone very fast, so make sure you are fast on a non-laggy computer! :P That is all the tips I have for you. Hope you have enjoyed it, and please use my link! It helps with costs of running this blog!

Message From Photographer: So 6 weeks of coughing, and I finally get myself up to go see a doctor. I got some antibiotics and I feel a lot better now. :) So I should be able to make more videos now that the cough subsided, and big announcement for you guys. I will head to Death Valley soon and I hope to bring back some great photos for you guys! So make sure you check back soon!

The photos for today was taken on the day of the Blue Angel's airshow. If you want to see those photos, you can do so here. Photos for today include birds, fish, animals, and jellyfishes.

I think this bird might be female. I'm not sure what it is, help me in the comments below if you can!

California Brown Pelican (Pelecanus occidentalis)

This was one aggressive pelican! I tried to give it a pet, and it tried to give me a peck on the face. :/ I backed off immediately. Later, I saw another guy trying to give it a pet, and he actually got a peck on the arm. I later asked him and he said it hurt! ROFL

Sea lion.

Awww it's looking at me. :D

I saw a jellyfish swim up to the surface, so I stole some shots of it before it swam back down.

This is all the photos for today! I have one more post on San Francisco. Next time I have photos of sunsets, Cliff House, and more birds! Message From Photographer: I just noticed I actually have photos from San Francisco from two trips there! One time to take my friend to see San Francisco (he just moved here), and a second time to go see the Blue Angels Air Show! So I will be kind of combining these 2 trip photos into a chain of blog posts. If you want to see my Blue Angels photos, you can do so here.

The photos for today will include the view of Alcatraz Island from the pier near the Golden Gate Bridge, Sutro Baths, a photo of the Golden Gate Bridge, some flowers, some bird photography, and two photos on Treasure Island on my way back home.

Castle Rock Regional Recreation Area

Today I have some photos from Castle Rock Regional Recreation Area. This is one of the parks in the East Bay Park District in San Francisco Bay Area. The park itself is located in Walnut Creek, CA. Hope you enjoy!

Full Resolution Photos and Prints: If you want to see full resolution photos or buy prints of any of the photos you see, they are up on my portfolio for viewing. To see all of the photos from this trip here.

Message from Photographer: Sorry about the delay in blog posts! I had a test this week, and I did procrastinate a bit... So yeah, but here is a new blog post! :) Also, I will most likely be heading to Death Valley National Park in a week or so during my Thanksgiving Break, so new photos from there will also be coming up! YAY! I would also like to remind you that you can follow me on my personal G+ page (really a second fan page now) if you want to see new photos I've taken in advance. Since posting a photo up on G+ is way easier than writing a blog post, I do put some of my new photos up in advance there before putting them into a blog post.  Let's get to the photos for today.

Panorama of the trail leading in.

As the name Castle Rock suggests, there are several giant rocks there with "tiny caves" making it look kind of like a natural castle.

Here is a zoomed out shot of the photo above.

Zoomed in shot of the opening. My Canon 600EX RT Speedlite was used to light up the "cave".

Focus stacked image of moss growing on a tree.

HDR of the rocks.

Thank you for viewing my photos from Castle Rock Recreational Area! This is all the photos I took at the park. Here is a list of stuff I still have in my photo collection I haven't shared with you guys yet: San Francisco photos, Santa Cruz photos, macro photography, Arroyo Del Valle Trail photos, Shadow Cliff photos, and many more! So make sure you check back often!
