Bird That Flew Into My House

Before I start telling you the story, you need to know that I did release the bird after the photos. Anyways here it goes. This bird which I suspect is an immature California Towhee (Melozone crissalis), flew into my garage and go lost in it. There is a huge attic right above my garage and the bird flew into there and didn't know how to get out. After an hour of shining a flashlight and trying to shoo it down, it finally did. Since I do have pet parakeets, I had a bird net handy so catch it before it accidentally flies up there again. For a few minutes in the attic, I don't know why, the bird actually calmed down and started scratching itself like it wasn't scared at all. So after that, since I spent an hour trying to get it down, I believe I deserve a photo of it. So here it is. I took it into my living room, and shot a few photos with my camera. Then I let it out in my front door. The bird seems fine, still comes over to my front yard for the food my parakeets constantly spill.

Here is the funny thing though. Back when I was living in Fremont, CA, an adult California Towhee (Melozone crissalis) actually flew into my house. Back then I also took photos (not on this blog but you can view it on Facebook here.) and released it (I put it in my tiny bird cage to take a few photos. I released it after around 2 hours for that time.). I am thinking maybe this species of birds is slightly mentally retarded. XD Second time this species of birds flew into my house.
