Huntington Library (Part 3) - Southern California 2014 (Part 10)

At the end of 2014 (around Christmas time), I took a trip to Southern California and took a lot of great photos. I went to famous places such as the Los Angeles, San Diego, USS Midway Museum, Huntington Library, Hollywood Walk of Fame, etc... The photos from this road trip will be split into many parts. I hope you enjoy.

Today I will continue with my day 3 photos from Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, CA. I will call the park Huntington Library for short. The photos from Huntington Library will be split into 4 parts, this is part 3 of the photos from Huntington Library, however it is also part 10 of the photos from my Southern California trip.

Fremont Central Park (5/31/2014) - Fremont, CA (Part 2)

As you guys know, ever since I moved out of Fremont, CA, I haven't visited Central Park (Lake Elizabeth) much after. I recently met up with a friend at the park and took some photos. I will be splitting the photos I shot there into 2 parts. I have some scenery shots, some flower shots, and some wildlife shots. I hope you enjoy viewing these photos. These photos were shot on 5/31/2014.

After the photo of the Huqin player, I walked toward the lake and there it was, a Double Crested Cormorant (Phalacrocorax auritus) seems to have caught itself a meal! Good thing I was on my wildlife lens. 

I quickly did several action type shots of the bird as it was killing and devouring its prey. 

I think this was my best shot in this series of photos. 

Photography Tip: To catch moments like this, if your camera body offers a custom mode on the mode dial (example: C1, C2, C3) I recommend keeping the last stop on that dial set to settings for actions shots. That is why I was able to catch this moment. There was no time to dial in the settings. It was I turned my dial to the mode and fired away. This bird dived underwater in just about half a minute.

Taihu Lake (太湖) & Mingyue Historic Town (明月谷村) - Suzhou, China (Part 9)

In the month of December in 2013, I took a trip to China to visit relatives and to travel places and take photos. On this trip, I visited Jiangsu (江苏), Anhui (安徽), Hong Kong (香港), and Macau (澳门). I took many photos on this trip and I will be splitting them into many parts. I will do my best in these blog post to describe the photos, however due to the lack of map data for China (on Google) and my horrible Chinese, I may not be able to give you too much details on certain things. At the time of visit, the smog in China is very heavy. In many of the photos, you will see what looks to be fog or haze, but it is the smog (pollution) in China. Be warned, that the pollution in China is not at safe levels. I started coughing less than one week into the trip, and I did not recover until the beginning of March this year (2014). Many individuals in China had the same cough I got. If you haven't done so, you can view my vlogs here. I already posted all my vlogs (of the entire trip) on Youtube, but these photos will come out in parts.

After Shanghai (上海), I returned to Suzhou (苏州) via the high speed rail. The photos for today are from Suzhou, Jiangsu, China (苏州, 江苏, 中国) and are taken on 12/26/2014. The places in this post will include Taihu Lake (太湖), Mingyue Historic Town (明月谷村), Jinji Lake (金鸡湖), and The Gate to the East (东方之门).

上海玩完了，我坐高铁回到苏州。今天的照片是在苏州拍的。有太湖、明月谷村、金鸡湖、和东方之门的照片。

First photo is shot on Changsha Island (长沙岛) and is of Taihu Lake (太湖). What you are looking at is heavy smog, not ordinary fog. This lake is suppose to be very beautiful, but the smog really ruins the scenery. I guess it does add a lot of depth and mystery to the image...

Here is Part 8 of Hong Kong. The photos for today are all from Cheung Chau Island (長洲). Hope you enjoy.

Cheung Chau Island (長洲) is an island in Hong Kong that has no cars. People either walk or ride a bike for transport on the island. The only cars on the island is for emergency use (police, ambulance).
