Ogden Point Breakwater and Other Scenery - Victoria, BC (Part 1)

From 7/17/2013 to 8/2/2013, I took a road trip from the SF Bay Area to Vancouver, BC, Canada. Half of the trip was spent driving up the west coast. On my trip, I visited many famous places such as Seattle, Butchart Gardens, Mount Rainier, and much more. Obviously I got many coastal shots and many places that isn't as famous. The reason I am posting it now is because the high amount of photos I took equaled a high amount of processing time. I took a bit over 2000 photos on the trip. After stitching the panoramas, compositing the HDRs, and picking out photos from the repeats, I have a bit over 1000 photos to show you guys. The photos will be split into parts. I will link you to the previous and next parts on each post just like I did with my Death Valley National Park photos and my Yellowstone/Grand Teton National Park photos. Hope you enjoy viewing this chain of posts!

Full Resolution Photos and Prints: If you want to see full resolution photos or buy prints of any of the photos you see, they are up on my portfolio for viewing. To view my best day time Victoria photos from this trip, use this link. To view all of my day 5 photos, use this link.

Today I travel from Port Angeles, WA to Victoria, BC, Canada via the Black Ball Ferry Line. The photos for today are taken from the Black Ball Ferry Line.

Waiting for the ferry in the waiting parking lot of the Black Ball Ferry Line.
Approximate GPS location (type into Google) according to the Canon GP-E2 GPS Receiver: 48 07 16 N 123 25 53 W

Here is a photo of the cars waiting to get on. It sure was one massive ship!

Still waiting, I shot a photo of a house in the middle of the ocean. I thought it made a nice simple shot.

I went ahead and did a black and white process of the image with no vignette correction. I thought the vignette created a really nice effect on the black and white.

Here is a photo of the building of Black Ball Ferry Line for passenger only customers. Since we were going to drive in Canada, we had to ferry our car over too.

Here is a photo of the ship I shot at sunset in the previous post.

Now I board the ferry.

That building I shot above in black and white, here is a side on view of it from the ship.

The people riding the ferry.

Another photo of the people riding the ferry.

Here is a photo of the upper deck. It was cold so not a lot of people sat outside. The inside cabin is heated.

Out in the middle of the ocean...

Today I continue my photos up north along Washington's coast. Today I have the last photo from day 4. The photos are all from Port Angeles, WA.

Finally I arrive at Port Angeles by sunset. This is my last city in the US for the part of my trip where I headed up north. Here is a photo of the customs and border crossing area for the Black Ball Ferry Line which transports people between Port Angeles, WA and Victoria, BC, Canada.
Approximate GPS location (type into Google) according to the Canon GP-E2 GPS Receiver: 48 07 15 N 123 25 56 W

Here are a few more photos of the customs area. Government, if you are looking at this, just trying to document my trip and share it with my followers. Not trying to do anything else. Hope you guys don't suspect me of anything. LOL Just an average tourist photographer traveling up north and back. Now to the rest of my followers, I bet you the NSA and CIA is taking a look at this blog post now (once I post it out that is). XD I get caught up in the media hype way too much...

Alright, near that customs area, I shot a few photos of the sunset and the ocean.

I zoomed in on that ship because I thought it looks nice.

Black and white process of the photo above.

Now I head back to that customs area and shot some street photography style shots.

Black and white process of the photo above.

For dinner, I headed to Michael's Seafood and Steakhouse in Port Angeles. The above photo is of the restaurant. The food was very good! But I think a 2-3 of the mussels in one of my bowls wasn't too fresh. They tasted a little bit weird. Can't blame them though! Those things keep their shell closed even after they die. The rest of it tasted fresh, so I'm pretty sure they are fresh caught, but a few of them just died off in the tank.

Black and white process of the above photo.

First off, some complimentary bread. It was pretty good.

A closer shot of the bread.

A bowl of Petite Oysters On The 1/2 Shell. These were so good... I'm a big fan of raw oysters. All the seafood there was so good...

I forgot what this was called. Anyways, like I said above, 2-3 of the mussels in this didn't taste fresh, but the rest were. I'm pretty sure they are freshly caught, but a few of them were dead. I can understand because it is really hard to tell whether or not they are alive or dead.

Some fish... This also tasted very good. Also, these photos sure beats the heck out of those Instagram food photos right? XD

These are all the photos for today. I hope you have enjoyed viewing them. Next time I have photos from both Port Angeles, WA and Victoria, BC, Canada. Why? The photos next time were shot from the Black Ball Ferry Line which took me from the US to Canada. Please don't forget to share the blog post with your friends and family members!
