African Veldt - Oakland Zoo in Oakland, CA (Part 6)

I know that I am posting these photos a little bit late, but here they are anyways. So last year (12/7/2012), my biology professor took the whole class on a field trip (as one of our labs) to the Oakland Zoo in Oakland, CA to teach us biology. While I was there, I took many photos of the animals and I am here to show you them. I have to say, I am not a big fan of zoos, but it sure is a great place for animal photos! If you love animal photos like me, definitely give your local zoo a visit. All of these photos were shot using my Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens on my Canon EOS 7D.

Full Resolution Photos and Prints: If you want to see full resolution photos of any of the photos you see, they are up on my portfolio for viewing. If you are interested, please select a link from the following list:

Message from the Photographer: My original plan was to write up a post yesterday, but I was very busy yesterday. Yesterday, I took my last test for this semester in school (yay for break), and then went to a photo walk at Pier 7 in San Francisco at night with some other photographers in the SF Bay Area. I got some pretty good sunset photos and night long exposures near the area. Will post them soon, hopefully. :) So yeah, let's get started with the post for today. It is going to be a pretty long one!

Today, I just have photos of Reticulated Giraffes (Giraffa camelopardalis reticulate), Common Elands (Taurotragus oryx), and the Egyptian Geese (Alopaoche aegyptiaca).

Today, I just have photos of the Sun Bear (Helarctos malayanus) and the Siamang (Symphalangus syndactylus).

I think it is pretty obvious. This is the Sun Bear (Helarctos malayanus).

The Sun Bear (Helarctos malayanus) got up. I thought it was going to get food. Nope, it switched a place and went back to sleep. XD

This is a Siamang (Symphalangus syndactylus) sitting up high and looking at the entire zoo.

They sure have great balance!

I think it sees me.

Here is an image of a Siamang (Symphalangus syndactylus) walking across a rope suspended high in the air.

Pet Photography

Today I have some pet photos I want to show you. One photo will be of my neighbors cat, and the other two will be of my parakeets. Sorry about the short post, I've been a bit busy recently. My flu symptoms is almost gone, but not completely gone, and because of that, I am a bit behind on my school work so trying to catch up a bit. Hope you all understand. Anyways, let's continue with the photos for today.

Full Resolution Photos and Prints: If you want to see full resolution photos or buy prints of any of the photos you see, they are up on my portfolio for viewing. To see my best at home and backyard photos for 2013, use this link.  I walked out one evening and spotted my neighbors cat sleeping right under my loquat tree in my front yard. I went back in my house and brought out a camera and took a shot. The cat left after the photo. LOL

Here are my 2 parakeets. The left one is Blue and the right one is Chirpy. I know Blue looks a bit sick in the photo. I took this photo several weeks back. She is doing a lot better now after the antibiotic treatment.

Here is another photo of them.

I hope you have enjoyed these photos. Again, quite busy recently so I might not post as often. Hope you can understand. Please don't forget to share the blog post with your friends and family members! Rock Pigeons (Columba livia)

Today I have photos of Rock Pigeons (Columba livia) (also more commonly known as pigeons) that I have taken in Foster City, CA near Bay Trail and Beach Park Blvd. I was in the area and I thought I might as well just relax a bit and hang out with a friend of mine by the shoreline there. There were a lot of pigeons there and I thought I'd get some photos of them, including a few of them in flight! :) I used my Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT on a few of them. Hope you enjoy.

Full Resolution Photos and Prints: If you want to see full resolution photos or buy prints of any of the photos you see, they are up on my portfolio for viewing. To see my best Foster City, CA photos, use this link. To see all of my photos from this trip, use this link.

Message from the Photographer: I am currently in the process of picking out my Death Valley National Park photos. After that, I will need to process the RAW files. This should still take me a while. I also recently went to Lake Tahoe for vacation. Those photos might come up before Death Valley. Not too sure yet.

Pigeon in flight! Can't believe how well it actually turned out.

Close up of the pigeon's head. Never noticed how much detail is in their eyes!

Another shot of a pigeon in flight.

This was 1 of the shots where the camera actually focus correctly. My other few shots, the camera focused on the background instead. Guess AI SERVO on Canons are not always on the mark...

Is that eye lashes on the eyes? Never knew pigeons had them.

The other shot of the pigeon the camera didn't mess up on.

This is all the photos I have for today. I hope you have enjoyed these! My Death Valley photos are still being processed, I am currently picking out the photos to put up. Then I need to process and convert the RAW files. This should still take some time. After that, I should have some Oakland Zoo photos and some Lake Tahoe photos.
