Emeryville & Berkeley, CA Coastline (Cellphone Photos)

On the 5th June 2025, my parents and I went for a walk at Emeryville Marina Park, Emeryville Marina, and Point Emery in Emeryville, CA and the Berkeley Pier and Berkeley Marina area in Berkeley, CA. I took photos with my cellphone. I hope you enjoy viewing my photos!

My father and I's original plan on the 5th of June was to pick up our cameras from Looking Glass Photo in Berkeley, CA, which I dropped off a few days prior for sensor cleaning, and take photos of the bay area from Berkeley. Unfortunately that did not happen as they failed to clean the sensor properly (especially with my father's Canon mirrorless camera), you can see the results of the abysmal sensor cleaning here. While on the topic of camera sensor cleaning, I would highly recommend against going to Looking Glass Photo in Berkeley, CA, as you will not be getting the same service as before (I have been going to them since 2016).

After realizing the sensor cleaning was a complete failure, we brought it back in and showed them on our test shots just how poorly of a job they did and asked them to redo it. We went to IKEA afterwards for lunch and to shop around a bit. You will see later on in this blog post just how bad my Long COVID brain fog is... Also while we're on the subject of Long COVID, I normally post my cellphone photos on the same day or the next day, but unfortunately all these trips to Berkeley has completely drained me, and I have been crashing pretty hard recently from the ME/CFS and my brain is barely working (it's frequently mimicking dementia to be honest). Anyways after IKEA, we headed for Emeryville Marina Park in Emeryville, CA.

Afterwards we headed to the Berkeley Pier and Berkeley Marina Area in Berkeley, CA.

That was pretty much it for the day and we went home after. I promised I'd show you just how bad my brain fog is. The next photo is notes I wrote down at the IKEA in Emeryville, CA.

I got a free half pencil from IKEA! Yay! However it came with a funny story. All the stands in the IKEA were stocked up with paper tape measures and pencils, but no paper to write on. My parents and I were in the show room and we found something we wanted. In my mind, I needed paper to make note of the item and where to find it downstairs in their warehouse. I looked around, I could not find any note paper. I kept looking, which was when I came upon an unmanned employee stand, and saw there was a printer. I opened up the printer and took a sheet of paper out and went back to my mom. My mom was like "Where did you go?" I was like "I went to go find paper to write on, I don't know why they stopped stocking it at the stands." That was when I realized how bad my problem solving skills have gone due to Long COVID. My mom was like "You know you can just take a picture with your phone."

My mom doesn't really speak English, so I decided to write the same story using Chinese.

我在 IKEA 拿到了半个免费的铅笔！可是这个后面有个好玩的故事。所有的 IKEA 站上只有纸尺子和铅笔，可是没有写笔记的纸。我和爸妈在展览厅里找到了一个我们要的东西，可是要写下来是什么楼下仓库里才能找得到。我找了找没找到草稿纸。我在找了找看见了一个员工站有打印机。我把打印机里抽出来了一张纸，回到了妈边上。妈问了，“你到哪里去了啊？” 我说，“我去找纸去了，不知道为什么他们铅笔边上不放草稿纸了。” 我这时候才意识到长新冠脑雾有多严重。我妈说，“拿手机拍张照片不就行了吗？”

Richmond-San Rafael Bridge & Sonoma County (Part 1)

On 28 January 2024, my parents and I took a trip to Sonoma Coast State Park in Sonoma County, CA. I took a bunch of photos at the park and on the drive there with both my Olympus mirrorless camera and my cellphone. The photos are split into several blog posts. I hope you enjoy viewing the photos.

The photos for today are from our drive to Sonoma Coast State Park from the East Bay. The photos are of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, farms, and cows.

The first stop on the trip was the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge Viewpoint in San Rafael, CA. My dad wanted to get photos of the bridge. It did look pretty good that day with the clouds.

White Rock, BC and Peace Arch Park/Border Crossing (Part 1)

From 7/17/2013 to 8/2/2013, I took a road trip from the SF Bay Area to Vancouver, BC, Canada. Half of the trip was spent driving up the west coast. On my trip, I visited many famous places such as Seattle, Butchart Gardens, Mount Rainier, and much more. Obviously I got many coastal shots and many places that isn't as famous. The reason I am posting it now is because the high amount of photos I took equaled a high amount of processing time. I took a bit over 2000 photos on the trip. After stitching the panoramas, compositing the HDRs, and picking out photos from the repeats, I have a bit over 1000 photos to show you guys. The photos will be split into parts. I will link you to the previous and next parts on each post just like I did with my Death Valley National Park photos and my Yellowstone/Grand Teton National Park photos. Today I end my Canada trip photos and head back to the states. The photos are from White Rock, BC, Surrey, BC, and Peace Arch Border Crossing between Surrey, BC and Blaine, WA. The photos from Peace Arch will be split into 2 parts. At Peace Arch Park, you are free to walk between the 2 countries. No restrictions, but the area is patrolled by quite a lot of border agents. One of the officers on the US side actually came to have a chat with us at the parking lot after I was done with my photos. He was very friendly about it and finished up the chat in around a minute.

I first start off with a well a practical prank that I almost left at the hotel I was staying at. XD I somehow got paranoid that I'm gonna get stopped at the border crossing so I crumpled it up and threw it in the trash. Was very tempted to leave this for the hotel staff. LOL This was shot at Best Western Plus Abercorn Inn in Richmond, BC. I know it is a bit racist, but it's a joke. I make fun of all races, including Asian stereotypes. 

I arrive at White Rock, BC. What you are looking at is a railroad track and the White Rock Pier.

After I crossed the border, I drove to the parking lot for Peace Arch Park on the US side and parked the car. I then walked into the park and started taking photos from both countries.

Talking about the peace and agreement between the 2 countries. Wasn't enough of a distance for the GPS to register a new location. What you are seeing is the rock behind the border marker from the photo above.

Point Roberts, WA and Richmond, BC (Part 2)

Today I will continue with part 2 of Point Roberts, WA with the last photo being from Richmond, BC. Point Roberts, WA is a small 5 square mile town is surrounded by the ocean and Canada. To travel into the city, you will have to either travel by boat or go through a border crossing. I found this very interesting as the residents will have to pass the US border crossing when going back home, and travel through Canada's border crossing when they want to leave the city, even if it is to travel to mainland USA! I took 36 photos in this town and divided them into 2 parts. This is part 2.

A lot of driftwood on the beach. They looked heavy, but they really weren't. I decided to move some into an arrow. Sadly, the one you see in the foreground was a heavy one that I couldn't move at all.

This is where Lighthouse Park get its name. This is the lighthouse. Not what you expected right? I was expecting one of those old fashion ones with a building.

Now I exit Lighthouse Park. I came upon this area where there was a lot of ships docked. Decided to go down for a photo.

Alright, I did cross a few meters into Delta, BC, Canada for a few photos just for fun. Here is a Canadian flag on a building.

I guess I can check "illegally entering Canada" off my list. LOL Anyways no border agents came to hassle me. Here is another photo facing Mount Baker, this time on Canada's side. Same location as above.

After to quick photos, I climbed back to the US side. This is when a guy that finished sunbathing on the beach came and told me, the border agents are watching from the hills over there, don't let them catch you doing that! I was like, do they really take it that seriously? He was like, yes they do, I'm not joking. Anyways, this is a road that runs along the border on the US side. Road is called Roosevelt Way. It runs the whole length of the border at Point Roberts however does not have any access to the border crossing. See photo below.

Back at the border crossing now heading to Richmond, BC, Canada where I was staying for the night. The border agent was not in a good mood that day. The car in front of me, got randomly inspected and he took out everything, checked them, and it took forever before he let him pass. The other lanes were moving very fast...

A photo of the border crossing. The border agent wasn't too happy about me taking photos of the crossing. Decided to question me on why I was taking photos. I told him, I don't get to cross a border very often, I found it very interesting. After pestering us with a lot of questions, he let us pass... He really was in a bad mood that day. If you look at the bottom of the shot, you can see part of my Joby Gorillapod Focus which I was using to stabilize my shots I took from the car.

Decided to get a photo of the stop sign and warning sign at the border crossing. They are written in both English and French.
