Henry Cowell Redwoods SP - Felton, CA (Cellphone Photos)

On the 18th December 2025, my parents and I went to Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park in Felton, CA to see Coast Redwood Trees (Sequoia sempervirens), and later we dropped by Natural Bridges State Beach in Santa Cruz, CA (no pictures from this location this time). San Joaquin River National Wildlife Refuge - Vernalis, CA

On 3 February 2024, my parents and I took a trip to San Joaquin River National Wildlife Refuge in Vernalis, CA. I took a couple photos with my Canon DSLR. I hope you enjoy viewing the photos.

I struggled quite a bit that day with wildlife photos. Not only have I not done wildlife photos for many years now (since the vision loss), I think I might be due for another treatment session. I haven't done another session of the experimental treatment for Visual Snow Syndrome since I caught COVID as I'm still feeling somewhat shitty from long COVID. My vision was pretty crappy that day, and my response times were super slow. The other reason for the lack of photos was due to the lack of wildlife sightings. I'm not sure if it was just because I had trouble seeing them, or all of them were hiding from the recent rainstorms, but I was able to hear them.

Pleasanton, CA & Cooking (Cellphone Photos)

The propane tank got so cold there is frost on it. It was easier to cook outside as our electric stove doesn't get hot enough.

Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park - Sunol, CA (Cellphone Photos)

Today I took a 7 mile hike through Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park in Sunol, CA for exercise. I shot quite a few cellphone photos on my hike and I am here to share it with you. I saw pretty good scenery, a giant tree that fell and blocked the trail, and some turkey tail mushrooms! I hope you enjoy viewing the photos.

The San Francisco Bay Area has been hit by several mega storms so there obviously is storm damage on the trails. The officials running the East Bay Parks put up these signs so people would be aware.

Redwood Regional Park (1/13/2017) - Oakland, CA

If you haven't heard the news, the San Francisco Bay Area has gotten hit with several mega storms during the month of January (and is still continuing in February). On 1/13/2017, I decided to take a trip to Redwood Regional Park in Oakland, CA to check out the storm damage. I took quite some photos while there and I am here to show you. After a rainstorm, comes mushrooms! Here are 2 photos of mushrooms growing on dead trees.

Recent rainstorms left many new streams flowing over Stream Trail. In the background is Coast Redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens).

The rainstorms also damaged the trails. Here is a warning sign set up on Stream Trail so people don't step on the part of the trail which is eroding away. In the background is Coast Redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens).

I saw a beam of light shining down through the forest canopy. I thought it would make a great photo. This is a photo of Stream Trail, Redwood Creek, and Coast Redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens).

More photos of the storm damage. A few Coast Redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens) actually fell across the trail, and there was several overhead that was about to fall. I took a risk and decided to climb over the fallen trees to continue on my adventure. There wasn't too much to take photos of that day, so this is the last photo of my trip. Pleasanton Autumn Foliage & Mushrooms (11/28/2016)

Last month, I went on a photo shoot of autumn foliage and mushrooms around Pleasanton, CA. It is that time of the year again, and after some rain storms, the mushrooms began to grow too. I would have shared these photos earlier, but I have been quite busy since the past month so I didn't get around to processing the photos until recently. I hope you enjoy though. The photos in this blog post is shot on 11/28/2016. All of the photos in this post was shot with the help of a Canon 600EX-RT Speedlite.
