Jinji Lake (金鸡湖) & The Gate to the East (东方之门) - Suzhou, China (Part 11)

In the month of December in 2013, I took a trip to China to visit relatives and to travel places and take photos. On this trip, I visited Jiangsu (江苏), Anhui (安徽), Hong Kong (香港), and Macau (澳门). I took many photos on this trip and I will be splitting them into many parts. I will do my best in these blog post to describe the photos, however due to the lack of map data for China (on Google) and my horrible Chinese, I may not be able to give you too much details on certain things. At the time of visit, the smog in China is very heavy. In many of the photos, you will see what looks to be fog or haze, but it is the smog (pollution) in China. Be warned, that the pollution in China is not at safe levels. I started coughing less than one week into the trip, and I did not recover until the beginning of March this year (2014). Many individuals in China had the same cough I got. If you haven't done so, you can view my vlogs here. I already posted all my vlogs (of the entire trip) on Youtube, but these photos will come out in parts.

Today I post the last photos from my trip in China. I hope you enjoy viewing this chain of blog posts! The photos for today are from Jinji Lake (金鸡湖). The photos will include the musical fountains, night time long exposure, and The Gate to the East

First photo is shot during sunset and is of The Gate to the East (东方之门) which is also know to the locals as Big Pants for obvious reasons. Quite a famous landmark now in China!

It was dinner, then back outside for night time long exposures. Here is a night time long exposure of  The Gate to the East It was so dark, it took a 3 minutes 20 seconds long exposure at f/16.

I think there is an amusement part across the lake! Also the blurriness is caused by the smog in China (中国).

Photography tip right here is, always watch where you are in relation to your camcorder when you are doing a long exposure! Don't go photo bombing your own shot! XD I accidentally photo bombed myself while vlogging. Also don't underestimate the wideness of your wide angle lens. Its field of view is probably wider than you think.

Another long exposure of the musical fountains.

Now I get up close to the musical fountains!

Today I begin my photos from Shanghai, China By the time my plane from Macau landed, it was fairly late, so with dinner, and settling down for the night, the first part of this post will be night time long exposures. I will have photos from The Bund (外滩), and the People Square Area.

First off, photos shot at night at The Bund (外滩). On the left is the Oriental Pearl TV Tower The blurriness is caused by smog. A lot of pollution.
