Birds in Motion - Grouse Mountain - North Vancouver, BC (Part 3)

From 7/17/2013 to 8/2/2013, I took a road trip from the SF Bay Area to Vancouver, BC, Canada. Half of the trip was spent driving up the west coast. On my trip, I visited many famous places such as Seattle, Butchart Gardens, Mount Rainier, and much more. Obviously I got many coastal shots and many places that isn't as famous. The reason I am posting it now is because the high amount of photos I took equaled a high amount of processing time. I took a bit over 2000 photos on the trip. After stitching the panoramas, compositing the HDRs, and picking out photos from the repeats, I have a bit over 1000 photos to show you guys. The photos will be split into parts. I will link you to the previous and next parts on each post just like I did with my Death Valley National Park photos and my Yellowstone/Grand Teton National Park photos. Hope you enjoy viewing this chain of posts!

Full Resolution Photos and Prints: If you want to see full resolution photos or buy prints of any of the photos you see, they are up on my portfolio for viewing. To view my best Vancouver photos from this trip, use this link. To view all of my day 9 photos, use this link.

Today I will continue my photos from Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver, BC, Canada. Grouse Mountain is a ski resort in North Vancouver, that is also open as a tourist attraction when there is no snow. When there is now snow, they have several shows, a wildlife conservation habitat, and a wind energy display called "Eye of the Wind" for tourists to observe. Today I have the rest of the photos from the Birds in Motion show.

Next up in the show is Miguel the Harris's Hawk (Parabuteo unicinctus).

 Another few photos of Miguel.

This is Judge Dredd the Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura).

Another few photos of Judge Dredd. As always with birds in flight, photography is very hard. While there is no issues with Canon's focus tracking, I'm not fast enough to follow them with my camera.

Next up, Darwin the Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus).

Here is a photo of Darwin with its beak open.

 Another few photos of Darwin.

Next up is the Arrow the Saker Falcon (Falco cherrug). I quickly shot these few photos as Arrow landed. Feel free to click on the first photo to open up a slideshow. That way you can view it like a mini animation.

 Another few photos of Arrow.

Another few photos of arrow.

These are all the photos for today. I hope you have enjoyed viewing them. Next time I will continue my photos from Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver, BC, Canada. Next time, I head on a ski lift up to the Eye of the Wind. Please don't forget to share the blog post with your friends and family members! Rock Pigeons (Columba livia)

Today I have photos of Rock Pigeons (Columba livia) (also more commonly known as pigeons) that I have taken in Foster City, CA near Bay Trail and Beach Park Blvd. I was in the area and I thought I might as well just relax a bit and hang out with a friend of mine by the shoreline there. There were a lot of pigeons there and I thought I'd get some photos of them, including a few of them in flight! :) I used my Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT on a few of them. Hope you enjoy.

Message from the Photographer: I am currently in the process of picking out my Death Valley National Park photos. After that, I will need to process the RAW files. This should still take me a while. I also recently went to Lake Tahoe for vacation. Those photos might come up before Death Valley. Not too sure yet.

Pigeon in flight! Can't believe how well it actually turned out.

Close up of the pigeon's head. Never noticed how much detail is in their eyes!

Another shot of a pigeon in flight.

This was 1 of the shots where the camera actually focus correctly. My other few shots, the camera focused on the background instead. Guess AI SERVO on Canons are not always on the mark...

Is that eye lashes on the eyes? Never knew pigeons had them.

The other shot of the pigeon the camera didn't mess up on.

This is all the photos I have for today. I hope you have enjoyed these! My Death Valley photos are still being processed, I am currently picking out the photos to put up. Then I need to process and convert the RAW files. This should still take some time. After that, I should have some Oakland Zoo photos and some Lake Tahoe photos.
