Panther Beach - Santa Cruz, CA (Part 2)

A few month back, I took a trip to Santa Cruz and the near by city of Davenport in California. I went to several beaches there that other photographers have recommended to me! They were sure very beautiful. Here are some of the photos I took there. I went to Shark Fin Cove, Panther Beach, Bonny Doon Beach and the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Some of the photos will be like "mini time lapses". If you wish to view those as a slideshow, just click on any image on this blog post and a slideshow should load.

Full Resolution Photos and Prints: If you want to see full resolution photos or buy prints of any of the photos you see, they are up on my portfolio for viewing. To see my best Santa Cruz photos from this trip, use this link. To see all of my Santa Cruz Photos from this trip, use this link.

Today, I have photos from part 2 of Panther Beach located in Santa Cruz, CA. This beach is also one of the more harder beaches to access due to the steepness of the only route down. You will definitely need 2 people to navigate down to this beach. Also, don't expect to see Hole in the Wall before heading down as the hole will be right under where you are standing! The landmarks in this blog post includes Panther Beach (of course) and Hole in the Wall. The photos will include regular scenery, HDRs, and flower photos.

A few long exposures on Panther Beach.

A few photos of Milk Thistle (Silybum marianum). Also, my foot and flip flop got in the last image. LOL On the first 3 images, the person you see in the background was another photographer. A few people were doing a photo shoot on the railroad tracks.

As you can tell, I did get my feet wet taking this shot. Good thing I had flip flops on. Also good thing my tripod is high and sturdy, or my camera might have been drenched. :P

Anyways, I didn't shoot too many photos on the other side of Hole in the Wall as the tide was coming in. I just did a few quick photos and went back to the safe side.

Another photo of the other side. I also shot off a few wider angle shots which I will show next time.

These are all the photos for today. I hope you have enjoyed them. Next time I will have more photos from Panther Beach. Twenty Mule Team Canyon - Death Valley National Park (Part 30)

At the end of November last year (2012), I took a trip to Death Valley National Park. This is the second trip there in my life. The 1st time I went, I was still a little kid, and I didn't start taking photos yet. This time, I have a pro camera and I am ready to shoot the scenery. Death Valley National Park is known for its "out of this world" scenery, UFO sightings, and many other things. The desert is a very mysterious and beautiful place. In this chain of blog posts, I will be showing you mainly photos of Death Valley National Park, but also photos from surrounding areas like The Mojave Desert, Alabama Hills, and Rhyolite Ghost Town. I have picked out over 400 photos from my trip to show you guys and I will be dividing them into many blog posts. Unlike blog  post chains before, I obviously can't put a link of ever blog post on every single blog post, so instead, I will do the same thing I did for my Yellowstone National Park photos before, by sticking a link of the Next and Previous post on each blog post instead.

Full Resolution Photos and Prints: If you want to see full resolution photos or buy prints of any of the photos you see, they are up on my portfolio for viewing. Message from the Photographer: So pretty much today, I tripped over my external hard drive dock and broke my hard drive. My computer no longer recognize the hard drive, and when it does, it tells me I need to format it. On the hard drive is where I store all of my photos. Good thing I always keep a redundant backup in my computer. Right now, I am formatting my new hard drive so I can make a redundant copy again. Take this as a lesson, always keep a backup of your data! Your hard drive will fail you, it is just a matter of time... If you are too cheap to spend money on a RAID enclosure, just do what I do, copy your data to 2 hard drives. Also, don't let the idea "my hard drive should survive a small impact" get into your head. My hard drive dock was on the ground with the hard drive facing up and it was leaning against my desk. I tripped over the USB cable, the hard drive fell 90° onto my hardwood floor and broke. The reason I leave the dock on the floor is so if it does fall, it won't be such a big impact. It broke anyways...

Today I will finish the photos from Twenty Mule Team Canyon and show a few photos from the beginning of the road into Hole in the Wall. I didn't end up going to Hole in the Wall because I drove in a little bit, and I felt the road was too bumpy for my car and was scared I'd get a flat tire. So I turned around and left. Anyways, here is my intro to Twenty Mule Team Canyon again. Before, when the mine was active, the borax was mined in Twenty Mule Team Canyon and was then processed at Harmony Borax Works (photos here). To view the canyon down below in detail, there is a one way unpaved road that you have to drive on (4WD Recommended). The road was fairly flat with the exception there was 1 down incline that you have to drive on. It is about 100 feet long and a 60° incline (not as scary as it sounds actually). The view was spectacular through the canyon! Also, there are signs that tell you not to go off the road (hiking included), but I've seen photos online where people actually went into the mine, but do know it is illegal and dangerous not to mention you can get lost easily... Anyways here are the last of the photos I took.

The dirt road through the canyon.

The last 2 images are of the beginning of the road into Hole in the Wall. Again, I only drive in a little bit and turned around because the road was too bumpy and I was afraid of a flat tire.

These are all the photos for today. I hope you have enjoyed viewing them. Next time I will have photos from Zabriskie Point which is an overlook for the Twenty Mule Team Canyon.
