Tower Bridge & State Capitol Park (Part 2) - Sacramento, CA

On the 31st October 2025, my parents and I took a trip to Sacramento, CA and dropped by Coloma, CA and Placerville, CA. We went to go see autumn foliage, but it was a bit early, at least for Sacramento. It was still a nice trip. I took photos with my phone, and the photos are split into 3 posts. After I finished up at Old Sacramento Waterfront, I walked over to Tower Bridge.

After Tower Bridge, my parents and I were pretty hungry. We headed over to Hing's Chinese Cuisine (2933 W Capitol Ave, West Sacramento, CA 95691) in West Sacramento, CA. I enjoyed the food, however my father did not. It is westernized Chinese food, so it matched my taste palette. They had quite a number of vegetarian dishes for me, and also meat dishes for my parents. I definitely recommend it.

After lunch, we headed back to Sacramento to explore California State Capitol Park.

Old Sacramento Waterfront (Part 1) - Sacramento, CA

This blog post has photos from Old Sacramento Waterfront in Sacramento, CA. This was our first stop on our trip. I originally planned for 1 hour at this location, but we ended up spending 2 hours.

Sundial Bridge - Turtle Bay (Redding, CA)

From 7/17/2013 to 8/2/2013, I took a road trip from the SF Bay Area to Vancouver, BC, Canada. Half of the trip was spent driving up the west coast. On my trip, I visited many famous places such as Seattle, Butchart Gardens, Mount Rainier, and much more. Obviously I got many coastal shots and many places that isn't as famous. The reason I am posting it now is because the high amount of photos I took equaled a high amount of processing time. I took a bit over 2000 photos on the trip. After stitching the panoramas, compositing the HDRs, and picking out photos from the repeats, I have a bit over 1000 photos to show you guys. The photos will be split into parts. I will link you to the previous and next parts on each post just like I did with my Death Valley National Park photos and my Yellowstone/Grand Teton National Park photos. Today I have photos Sundial Bridge at Turtle Bay in Redding, CA. These are the last photos from this trip and for this chain of blog posts. I hope you enjoy viewing them. Sundial Bridge is a bridge in Redding, CA that crosses over the Sacramento River. The shape of the bridge creates a giant sundial.

This is Sundial Bridge. The bottom of the bridge is made of glass so you can see through it.

I've been living in California for 13 years now and I noticed I had no clue how to spell Sacramento correctly while labeling my shots for Panoramio. LOL What really screwed me over was the fact that "sacramental" is actually a real word and spell check kept suggesting that instead of the name for the capital city of California.

Looking at the giant cables, I thought they'd make great depth-of-field subjects. Here are 2 abstract shots of the giant cables on the bridge.

Today I have photos from Shasta Lake and Shasta Dam in California, USA. When I was there, the forest fire smoke was still pretty heavy so the area was still in a layer of thick smoke. It was the last day of this long road trip and I was tired. Didn't end up going on the tour because I've been on the tour before. The photos you'll see is just from the part of the dam you can explore on your own.

As I head back to the parking lot, I spot a giant Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) nest.  

 The Osprey is a fish eating bird. I found a giant fish tail right under the nest. They sure eat big fish!
