Wong Tai Sin Temple & Other Scenery - Hong Kong (Part 1)

In the month of December in 2013, I took a trip to China to visit relatives and to travel places and take photos. On this trip, I visited Jiangsu (江苏), Anhui (安徽), Hong Kong (香港), and Macau (澳门). I took many photos on this trip and I will be splitting them into many parts. I will do my best in these blog post to describe the photos, however due to the lack of map data for China (on Google) and my horrible Chinese, I may not be able to give you too much details on certain things. At the time of visit, the smog in China is very heavy. In many of the photos, you will see what looks to be fog or haze, but it is the smog (pollution) in China. Be warned, that the pollution in China is not at safe levels. I started coughing less than one week into the trip, and I did not recover until the beginning of March this year (2014). Many individuals in China had the same cough I got. If you haven't done so, you can view my vlogs here. I already posted all my vlogs (of the entire trip) on Youtube, but these photos will come out in parts.

Full Resolution Photos and Prints: If you want to see full resolution photos or buy prints of any of the photos you see, they are up on my portfolio for viewing. To view my best Hong Kong photos from this trip, use this link. To view all of my photos from 12/19/2013, use this link.

I decided I want to visit Hong Kong (香港) on this trip. So after returning to Suzhou, I flew out to Hong Kong, China, S.A.R. The photos for today are from near my hotel (in Wan Chai I think) and Wong Tai Sin Temple While I have relatives in Hong Kong (香港), I was not raised in a Cantonese speaking region, therefore I barely understand them as Cantonese is very different from the dialect I used to speak. Visiting Hong Kong was a bit confusing for me, however at least most of the people spoke pretty good British English. Subconsciously, I'm reading all the names in my head with a heavy British accent.

A photo shot on Morrison Hill Road in Wan Chai. The long exposure and the blur of people was achieved using an ND filter.

Back on Morrison Hill Road, I decided to get a photo of someone driving on the right. As you know, in mainland China and the US, the driver is on the left! Even in Canada, the driving is done on the left, so this was very interesting for me.

I now arrive at Wong Tai Sin Temple Wong Tai Sin Temple (黄大仙祠) is a Buddhist Temple in Hong Kong (香港). There were many stores outside the store selling souvenirs, incense, and other worship products. Here is bells and ribbons that they were selling in one of the stores.

Here is a photo of Wong Tai Sin Temple The security guards didn't let me use my tripod. It was a bit annoying, but there was so many people, I'd worry about them tripping over it too.

The incenses burning in the temple. The smoke sure made me cough as I tried to get the perfect shot. I think this one is the best out of the photos I took.

Here is a photo of the worshipers inside the temple.

These are all the photos for today. I hope you have enjoyed them. Next time I will continue with more photos from Hong Kong, China S.A.R. (香港特区) from Nan Lian Garden (南蓮園池). Please don't forget to share with your friends and family members! Also, if you want to get notifications when I post up more photos, "Like" us on Facebook or follow me on Twitter and Google+.
