Father Crowley Point/Mojave Desert - Death Valley National Park (Part 41)

At the end of November last year (2012), I took a trip to Death Valley National Park. This is the second trip there in my life. The 1st time I went, I was still a little kid, and I didn't start taking photos yet. This time, I have a pro camera and I am ready to shoot the scenery. Death Valley National Park is known for its "out of this world" scenery, UFO sightings, and many other things. The desert is a very mysterious and beautiful place. In this chain of blog posts, I will be showing you mainly photos of Death Valley National Park, but also photos from surrounding areas like The Mojave Desert, Alabama Hills, and Rhyolite Ghost Town. I have picked out over 400 photos from my trip to show you guys and I will be dividing them into many blog posts. Unlike blog  post chains before, I obviously can't put a link of ever blog post on every single blog post, so instead, I will do the same thing I did for my Yellowstone National Park photos before, by sticking a link of the Next and Previous post on each blog post instead.

Full Resolution Photos and Prints: If you want to see full resolution photos or buy prints of any of the photos you see, they are up on my portfolio for viewing. Today I have the last of the photos from my Death Valley National Park. These are photos I shot on the way home to the SF Bay Area. I hope you enjoy viewing the photos.

Random Scenery. I think I took this near Father Crowley Point. Not too sure though.

HDR composition near Father Crowley Point (I think).

The moon rising over the Mojave Desert. If you look closely, you can also see a few Joshua Trees (Yucca brevifolia) in the distance.

A car driving through a dirt road in the desert. I took a picture of the dust the car kicked up on the drive.

These are all the photos for today! This is the last photos for this chain of posts. I hope you have enjoyed viewing this chain of blog posts. :) I am not really sure what I will be posting up next time, but I do have a giant collection left, so I'll just surprise you viewers I guess. Mosaic Canyon was the last view point I saw before driving out of Death Valley National Park back to the SF Bay Area. Today, I have some photos from my drive home including scenery photos and some close up shots of some plants. I will be finishing the photos of my drive home by next time. :) I hope you have enjoyed viewing this chain of posts. Hope you enjoy viewing these photos for today.

The straight road in/out of the park. Also, see that yellowish-white strip in the middle of the image? It is some sort of dry lake bed. I will have a few photos of that at the bottom of this post. I'll tell you when it starts.

Mojave Fishhook Cactus (Sclerocactus polyancistrus) growing on the side of the road.

Some tiny trees in the desert.

Remember the dry lake bed I told you about in the first image? Here it is! I stopped and took some shots of the area.

I sat down on the ground to shoot this panorama, but my shadow still showed up. :/

Some more scenery shots of the dry lake bed.

Last shot of the dry lake bed.

These are all the photos for today. I hope you have enjoyed viewing them. Next time, I will post the rest of the photos from my drive home. Next time will be the last blog post on Death Valley National Park. I hope you have enjoyed viewing this chain of blog posts. Today I have 15 photos from Mosaic Canyon. The canyon was very beautiful and definitely a place to visit. I know some of these photos look kind of bad. This is because on the last day of my trip, I actually got sick and had a really bad headache so I just didn't take that much photos, and when I did, I didn't really think about the shot too much. :/ Anyways, I hope you enjoy viewing the photos.

HDR composition in the canyon. I shot many of these as there were a lot of shadows and highlights in the canyon.

Scenery

This photo was actually a "gigapixel" panorama. I shot a lot of photos to combine this. Obviously no image hosting service will take a photo so large so I had to shrink it down.

Message from the Photographer: Sorry about the delay in photos. I went shopping yesterday so I didn't get any time to post. Here are some new photos for you to view today.

Today I have some scenery from random places on the side of the road in Death Valley National Park including Devil's Cornfield. Don't really have specific locations for these photos so I can't give them to you. Remember, in Death Valley National Park, half of the great views are on the side of the road! Don't just drive from one view point to another. Make sure you look off to the side as you drive through the park too! Hope you enjoy viewing these photos.

Devils Cornfield is just a small view point on the side of the road. If you want to see it, drive slow! It is very easy to miss as the sign is tiny. Here is a photo of a sign so you know what to expect if you do visit.

Here is some scenery at Devil's Cornfield. I'm guessing it is named that because of the amount of desert plants that thrive there.

A panorama at Devil's Cornfield.

More scenery of Devil's Cornfield.

Scenery at Devil's Cornfield.

Another shot of Devil's Cornfield.

After driving off from Devil's Cornfield, I noticed tire tracks off to the side of the road. Thought it would make great lead-in lines so here is a shot! I think the tire tracks are made by probably a ranger as driving off-road is illegal in the park.

Panorama off the side of the road.

Another scenery shot off the side of the road of the tire tracks.

These are all the photos for today. I hope you have enjoyed viewing them. Next time I will have photos from Mosaic Canyon. Please don't forget to share the blog post with your friends and family members! After my stay at The Atomic Inn (read about my great stay in my previous post) in Beatty, NV, I went ahead and drove back into Death Valley National Park to go see Salt Creek. The photos for today are photos from Salt Creek and some random shots on the side of the road on my way back into the park. I tried to find some Death Valley Pupfish, but I didn't spot any sadly. :( So no Death Valley Pupfish photos...

Some on the side of the road scenery. The road through Death Valley National Park is pretty straight.

Another shot on the side of the road.

A bird at Salt Creek. Not sure what species it is as I suspect it is a female. Female birds tend to look similar.

I hope you have enjoyed viewing them. Next time I will have some photos up from Devils Corn Field and some other random scenery on the side of the road in Death Valley National Park.
